Customers in the Village of Grafton have a water meter located in the basement. The meter is used by the Water Utility to measure water consumption for billing purposes. At times it is necessary for the Utility to gain access to the meter for either maintenance purposes or to otherwise verify accuracy of readings.
The Utility is entering the final year of its ‘automated meter read’ (AMR) conversion program that also requires access to the basement meter for exchange of the meter ‘head’. When access is required, the Utility will contact the homeowner by phone to set up an appointment.
Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., however Saturday morning appointments can be arranged as needed.
If contact by phone is not successful, the Utility will leave a ‘door handle notice’ advising the customer to contact the Utility to arrange for the meter inspection appointment. If this form of contact also fails, we will then send out correspondence with further explanation of the request.
Utility staff realizes that it is increasingly difficult to provide for meter access via appointments during working hours.
We request everyone’s cooperation in this regard and will make every effort to schedule meter access appointments at the convenience of the customer.
